BOAT CONSTRUCTION
All Boats will be constructed out of cardboard and duct tape for the seams only. Boats may be painted with latex paint only. (no waterproofing of cardboard of any type, that would lead to disqualification)
Boats will be made at home prior to the race.
Paddles will be made out of cardboard and duct tape.
(Adjustments can be made onsite the day of race only before inspection)
No children under the age of six years old will be permitted in a boat.
Rafts and surfboards are not allowed.
Boats must be propelled by paddles and or hands.
Colored duct tape and other objects may be added to boat for decorative purposes as long as it does not assist in propelling or flotation of the boat.
Participants must always be visible in the boat no full enclosures.
Boats cannot exceed 10 feet in length and 4 foot in width without prior approval.
You and your team are RESPONSIBLE for removal of your boat no matter how soggy it is.
RACE DAY
Teams must consist of at least two people and no more than five with one captain for a total of six people.
Captains and team must be signed in including waivers signed by 10:30am.
The captain’s meeting and crew meeting at 10:30am race will start shortly after meeting.
Each participant must have a Coast Guard approved PFD (not supplied)
Each participant must always be visible in the boat while in the water.
Team member that starts in the boat must remain in the boat without leaving it before the end of race or will be disqualified.
Swimming and or pulling of boat is not allowed.
Jet skis and boats will be in the water to assist the waterlogged vessels.
JUDGING WILL BE BASED ON
Originality, Construction Technique.
